My Favorite Jozi Coffee Shops: Red Door Café in Edenvale

Twelfth in an occasional series about my favorite coffee shops in Joburg.

I’d nearly forgotten about the chilly day, more than two months ago, when Gail and I had a spontaneous coffee and lunch at Red Door Café in Edenvale. We had just gone shopping for knitting supplies at Elli’s Needlework and realized Red Door was on the next block.

Saturday Night at the Burger Box Roadhouse, Krugersdorp

Sixth in my “Roadhouses of Gauteng” series. Browse all of my roadhouse posts or view a map of the roadhouses I’ve visited.

On a Saturday night in late June, 2021 – before I flew from South Africa to America and back again – Thorsten and I ate dinner at the Burger Box Roadhouse in Krugersdorp (northwest of the city on Joburg’s West Rand). There are several Burger Boxes around Gauteng, but I chose Krugersdorp because that location received particularly rave reviews from my readers.

Two Days With Joburg Tourism: A Photo Story

I recently spent two days with Joburg Tourism exploring different places around town with a small group of lady bloggers/influencers. It was a strange time to embark on this journey, right as the city plunged into a third covid wave, but the event was planned weeks earlier and I really wanted to go through with it. I’ve been socially distanced from my own city for the past 18 months and felt eager to reacquaint myself.

The Pure and Cool Roadhouse, Malvern

Fifth in my “Roadhouses of Gauteng” series. Browse all of my roadhouse posts or view a map of the roadhouses I’ve visited.

Malvern – a suburb east of downtown Joburg, sandwiched between Kensington and the industrial suburbs of Denver and Cleveland – is rather downtrodden. Jules Street, the main road through Malvern, is populated mainly by chop shops, small factories/warehouses, and dilapidated apartment blocks.

My Favorite Jozi Coffee Shops: Vice in Craighall Park

Eleventh in an occasional series about my favorite coffee shops in Joburg.

Vice, a coffee shop next to CNR Café in Craighall Park, has become a semi-regular coffee hangout for me lately. I’ve held off on blogging about it because it’s a tricky place to describe.
