I meet a lot of people around Jozi these days.
When I meet a new person, the first question he/she normally asks is, “What brought you to Joburg?” I dread this question because it takes so long for me to answer.
Johannesburg has a unique meteorological phenomenon. I don’t know if there is a technical name for it. Jon called it “After-the-Rain”.
After-the-Rain happens the day after an overnight rain storm. The rains thunder through, clearing the dust and pollution from the atmosphere. The next day the sky is piercing, neon blue and full of cottony clouds. The clouds float across the sky in 3D and pile up along the horizon, layer over layer.
Part 2 in an occasional series about boxing. Read Part 1. Also, watch a short video about George’s gym.
When George Khosi was a kid, living on the streets of Hillbrow, he dreamed of being a boxing champion. He fought his way (literally) through the ranks, and was on his way toward becoming one.

Shortly after I publish this post, 2Summers will surpass 100,000 hits all-time.
The last time I wrote a celebratory post like this was in January 2011, when my blog surpassed 10,000 hits. In that post I wrote: “It’s a small feat, I know, but reaching that milestone is a pretty cool thing for a regular person like me.”
