Seriously. I ate it all.
I’ve been all over South Africa this month – four provinces, seven cities/towns (I think), and more hotels and restaurants than I can count. I did a lot of stuff. But mostly I ate.
My list of favorite places to eat in Mayfair, Joburg’s ever-expanding Muslim quarter, is growing. King Arabic Sandwich is the newest addition. Here’s my review of it, which recently appeared on JHBLive.
I literally just returned from an incredible blogger trip to Grootbos Nature Reserve in the Western Cape (hashtag: #GrootbosMagic), and I am literally about to leave on another blogger trip all over the country sponsored by South African Tourism (hashtag: #MeetSouthAfrica).
I love Joburg. I love Joburg buildings. I love shooting pictures of Joburg buildings. I love shooting pictures of Joburg buildings with my Canon.
For all of the reasons listed above, I was stoked when Canon hired me to shoot pictures of iconic Joburg buildings for an advertising campaign they’re working on. I was out the door, camera in hand, almost before I hung up the phone.
A year or two ago there were no Indian restaurants in Melville. This was a sad state of affairs, as quick, tasty, affordable Indian food is a staple in the average South African diet. Sure, Fordsburg is just 10 minutes away from Melville and all the best Indian food in town is there. But it just wasn’t the same as having an Indian joint right in my own neighborhood.
